Racial Equity
Racial equity drives where we choose to focus our public policy work and is a central pillar of our partnerships and coalition building.
We strive to:
Create inclusive and diverse coalitions with BIPOC representation
Actively honor and acknowledge capacity and labor, especially of BIPOC individuals and organizations
Engage with organizations to work explicitly toward racial equity
Establish and maintain proactive and healthy communication
Hold ourselves accountable to one another to uphold our values
When engaging with new partners, we:
Emphasize CFA’s commitment to racial equity and diversity, equity, and inclusion
Discuss how our work is rooted in addressing systemic and structural racial- and gender-based barriers
Actively recognize and value the collective power of diversity
Foster open communication to uplift the talents, knowledge, and perspectives of our partners
As ongoing practice, we:
Amplify racial equity goals in coalition communications
Identify and speak out against racial inequities and/or biases
Make resources and information accessible
Work to dismantle systems, assumptions and practices based in the fallacy of white supremacy
Our conversations about racial equity and the intersections with our work are an ongoing learning process for the organization. This is part of the work.
